The musicians of Trio Monte (Anca Lupu, piano, Claude Frochaux, cello and Francesco Sica, violin, in original form with Ana Feitosa, violin, until 2010) met in 2008 at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main.
Since their beginning, Trio Monte has received many international prizes, such as the1st prize at the Josep Mirabent International Chamber Music Competition in Sitges, Spain (June 2008), 2nd prize at the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (September 2008), 3rd prize at the International Competition Maria Canals - World Federation of International Music Competitions - in Barcelona, Spain (March 2009) and 1st prize at the European Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe, Germany (September 2009). In March 2010 they won the Award “Folkwang Preis” in Essen.
They have performed at the renowned Schleswig-Holstein and Osnabrück Music Festivals and were broadcast several times throughout Germany in the West German Radio (WDR). In summer they will be heard at the Mozart Fest in Wuerzburg, in the “Rising Stars” series and also at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
Trio Monte has received artistic guidance from the Fauré Quartett, Michael Sanderling, Gerhard Mantel, Hubert Buchberger und Antony Spiri. Masterclasses with Menahem Pressler , Ralph Gothoni, Nicklas Schmidt, Eberhard Feltz and Valentin Erben enriched their development. Since April 2009, they have been pursuing postgraduate chamber music studies with Prof. Dirk Mommertz at the Folkwang University in Essen, Germany. Starting October 2011, they will continue a master program in chamber music at the renowned “Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia” in Madrid, Spain.
The Trio was promoted by the Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now” Foundation in Frankfurt from 2008 to 2009 and is currently supported by the Anna Ruths Foundation.
